Harrison Atkins (Madeline’s Madeline, editor)

The versatile Harrison Atkins has been working on the indie scene in varying capacities for a while now, writing and directing his own film, 2015’s Lace Crater while editing Joe Swanberg’s Netflix series Easy as well. Now Atkins is flexing his abilities as co-editor for Josephine Decker’s Madeline’s Madeline, working alongside Decker. Decker’s film makes an alternate argument for the equal importance of the edit in the shaping of the narrative; it does not merely connect the dots from the script and the production—it is fully transformative in its own right. With ADR from scenes overlaid over different moments, and other scenes edited out of order from the script, Decker’s wonderfully-original new film is bold and inventive, and Atkins’ diligent work in the editing suite is largely responsible. –Caleb Hammond
